![]() I supply the advanced craft tools lacking in non-writer designed software, which includes probably all the software out there. Rob of WriteItNow supports The Writer’s Interface as a good approach using his software. You learn writing craft as well as get your own story craft imagination stimulated. My ideas come from over fifty writing craft books, from my own writing experience and from novels of course.īasically, you review my many lists to go with novel elements, such as plot and character, and you revise and make your own lists using mine for guidance. I am simply a professional writer and these are my notes and structures for writing the novel. It’s quite different from commercial software. It costs a little but saves a lot of time and learning. It is my 92,000 words The Writer’s Interface, which is either a pdf file ebook for you, or an interactive file that fits right into WriteItNow. I am quite devoted to WriteItNow and have devised my own writer’s interface to go with it. STORYCRAFT PRO HAS BEEN ‘UPGRADED’ AND I NO LONGER RECOMMEND IT. (I have no connection with either Stor圜raft Pro or WriteItNow and do not receive any reward for promoting them – I’m just a happy user!)ĮDITED : PLEASE SEE MY COMMENT ATTACHED TO THIS POST. Stor圜raft Pro, on the other hand, can be used time after time, even by advanced writers, and is perfectly capable of producing publishable work. I’m happy to stand corrected on that point if anyone knows otherwise. (That’s Stor圜raft Pro by the way!) I don’t honestly think that any novel solely written using NewNovelist would ever be published, because of the aforementioned lack of depth. The word “new” in the title is the one you ought to pay most attention to – after you’ve written your first novel you’ll be looking for something better. But as far as I’m aware (I’ve read the blurb but not tried it) it still doesn’t have the depth required for professional writing. ![]() Version 2 is out now, and I hope it corrects that problem. The first version was also unstable, prone to crashes and losing work. I’m often also asked my opinion of a piece of software called NewNovelist. ![]() With the two programs combined (3 if you count Word, though as I said you don’t really need it) it’s very (very!) fast, very easy, and works like a dream. This method also allows me to write the scenes in any order – which I do! I mark each scene as “completed” in WriteItNow as I finish it, so I can keep track of progress. It’s then just a simple matter of expanding the outline. I also add any new scenes to WriteItNow.Īfter that I keep WriteItNow running in the background and write the whole thing in Word (out of habit I guess – you can write the whole thing in WriteItNow if you want to as it has a built-in word processor, but I prefer not to). It turns my basic story idea into a mighty epic, fixes any problems with the structure, suggests new scenes that will enhance the story, and creates a complete outline which I export into Word. Then with the basic story idea and characters in mind, I load Stor圜raft Pro, decide what sort of story it is, and fill in the blanks (the online tutor guides you through this process and gives you prompts if you get stuck, though I tend not to use this). ![]() Then I enter all the details into WriteItNow to keep everything in one place, and I can easily drop the characters into scenes and see them on the Timeline. I tend to have the major characters in mind already, and I use our own ideas4writers Writing Engines to help flesh them out and make some decisions about which way certain events should go. I also use it to automatically generate some of the minor characters. I start off in WriteItNow, which looks after the characters, locations, key events, notes and jottings, and so on. A number of you have asked how these two programs can be used together. ![]() They fit together perfectly and make writing great fiction very easy indeed. In a recent post I talked about two excellent pieces of software for writers, Stor圜raft Pro and WriteItNow. ![]()

But, Gregory Bratman, of Stanford University, has found evidence that nature may impact our mood in other ways, too. I’ve always found that hiking in nature makes me feel happier, and of course decreased stress may be a big part of the reason why. Nature makes you happier and less brooding These studies and others provide evidence that being in natural spaces- or even just looking out of a window onto a natural scene-somehow soothes us and relieves stress. In a now-classic laboratory experiment by Roger Ulrich of Texas A&M University and colleagues, participants who first viewed a stress-inducing movie, and were then exposed to color/sound videotapes depicting natural scenes, showed much quicker, more complete recovery from stress than those who’d been exposed to videos of urban settings. The reasons for this effect are unclear but scientists believe that we evolved to be more relaxed in natural spaces. ![]() In another study, researchers in Finland found that urban dwellers who strolled for as little as 20 minutes through an urban park or woodland reported significantly more stress relief than those who strolled in a city center. The researchers concluded that there’s something about being in nature that had a beneficial effect on stress reduction, above and beyond what exercise alone might have produced. ![]() Results showed that those who walked in forests had significantly lower heart rates and higher heart rate variability (indicating more relaxation and less stress), and reported better moods and less anxiety, than those who walked in urban settings. The participants also filled out questionnaires about their moods, stress levels, and other psychological measures. In one recent experiment conducted in Japan, participants were assigned to walk either in a forest or in an urban center (taking walks of equal length and difficulty) while having their heart rate variability, heart rate, and blood pressure measured. But, there’s something about being in nature that may augment those impacts. It’s clear that hiking-and any physical activity-can reduce stress and anxiety. “Now we are seeing changes in the brain and changes in the body that suggest we are physically and mentally more healthy when we are interacting with nature.” “People have been discussing their profound experiences in nature for the last several 100 years-from Thoreau to John Muir to many other writers,” says researcher David Strayer, of the University of Utah. Scientists are beginning to find evidence that being in nature has a profound impact on our brains and our behavior, helping us to reduce anxiety, brooding, and stress, and increase our attention capacity, creativity, and our ability to connect with other people. From the time I first strapped on a backpack and headed into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, I was hooked on the experience, loving the way being in nature cleared my mind and helped me to feel more grounded and peaceful.īut, even though I’ve always believed that hiking in nature had many psychological benefits, I’ve never had much science to back me up…until now, that is. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Vibe AWD utilizes a transverse front wheel drive arrangement that uses a viscous coupling to automatically transfer power to the rear wheels when necessary. The acceleration is acceptable, with moderate noise levels. The tall final drive ratio (4.16) does a good job of extracting the most from this engine. The Vibe AWD is also only available with a smooth shifting 4-speed automatic transaxle. Unfortunately, Pontiac offers the 180HP version of this engine in the Vibe GT, but it is not offered with the AWD model. The sturdy adjustable roof rack raises the appearance of the roof line, while also offering additional cargo capabilities. The contrasting grey plastic lower body molding makes the Vibe appear longer. The look is accentuated by the trapezoid shaped window after the c-pillar. The most notable feature of the aggressive look is the greenhouse area that slowly drops down towards the rear tailgate. Pontiac has given the Vibe distinctive styling features. Introduced in Q1 2002, Pontiac sold approximately 16,000 Vibes through July 2002. The Vibe offers attractive sport styling with efficient interior packaging resulting from the high roof wagon body. Pontiac, like Toyota, does offer a 180 HP version of this engine but not in combination with the all-wheel drive system. The Vibe combines an efficient 123 HP 1.8 16-valve 4-cylinder Toyota engine with automatic all-wheel drive. Why should you care? The answer is simple: more brand awareness, more loyal customers, more sales and participation from customers, and, in the end, more money in the bank. Simply put, a digital billboard is what happens when traditional advertising meets the most advanced LED technology in the world. You can change your message on the same billboard several times a day, which lets you be creative and try out different ways to get the attention of your audience. For example, the billboards are run by computers and can change automatically based on what you want. If a business, school, or even a church wants to use digital billboards to attract new customers or spread important news, one of the best things about it is that it’s not too hard for them.
